What is SAD

Unique definition of SAD by Om Prakash (EFG)

Why SADUnderstanding its root cause, effects and resolution.

Joy and sadness are opposing emotional states. When sadness becomes persistent, it can affect our mental well-being and happiness.

Let us understand our term of SAD

SAD = Stress, Anxiety, and Depression

These conditions often develop progressively:

Stress → Anxiety → Depression

When stress is not managed effectively, it can gradually lead to anxiety, which may eventually develop into depression.

One effective way to manage stress is through Samatha Meditation, also known as Ānāpānasati, a meditation practice taught by Lord Buddha.

The word Ānāpāna refers to inhalation and exhalation, while sati means awareness or mindfulness. In this practice, attention is gently focused on the natural flow of the breath, observing each inhalation and exhalation with full awareness.

Regular practice of Ānāpānasati helps calm the mind, reduce stress, and cultivate inner peace. By managing stress at an early stage, we can help prevent it from developing into anxiety and depression.

May you be peaceful, mindful, and well.
